He is survived by: his children, Heather Whelan (James) of Michigan, John Barthel Jr. of Round Lake Heights, Regina Feltner (Derrek) of Lake Villa and Jessica Barthel of Round Lake Heights; his grandchildren, Emelia, Derrek, Riley, Benjamin and Remi; and his brothers, Curtis, Timothy, Marco, Terrance, Andrew and Matthew Barthel.
