He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Hoekstra and Elizabeth Hoekstra (DeGroot); his wife Carol J. Hofer; and his siblings, Dale, Elaine DeVries and Betty Tiggelaar.

He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Collings (Kim) of Bee Branch, AR, Rhonda Turner (Cary) of Mackinaw, IL, Karen Wielgus (Ed) of St. Anne and Paula Baranowski (Mike) of St. Anne; and his sister Carol Verdoorn (Sid). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First Reformed Church of Wichert or to Uplifted Care.
