He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Julia Cavanaugh; his sisters, Ellen Bartels and Patricia Dill; his son Daniel; and his grandson Connor.
He is survived by: his wife Marian; his children, John (Cyndie), Mary Pat Cavanaugh, Gail VanBogaert (Phil) and Bill (Tracy); and his brother Jim. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren.
