He was predeceased by : his parents, George Hays and Carrie Hays (Self); his former life partners, Edna Veal and Joanna Eagan-Hays; and his siblings, Bill Hays, Lester Hays, Carrol Hays and Fredia Nichols.
He is survived by : his wife Deborah Hays of Salem; his stepchildren, Charles Eagan of Indiana, Dale Eagan of Central City, Danny Eagan of Seattle and Donna Hammond of Waynewood, Oklahoma; and his siblings, Jim Hays of Salem and Dorothy Bowden of Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Darrel's memory to the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
