He is survived by: his wife Patricia Spannagel; his daughters, Ashley (Stephen Holmes), Abbey (Ricardo Salgado) and Chelsey (Michael Weber); his grandchildren, Reese, Rory, Gage Holmes of Nixa, Missouri, Emeree, Paislee, Corbin Giles of Salem, Hunter Williams of Pana and Tobias Weber of Oconee; and his stepgrandchildren, Ricardo Jr., Angel Salgado of Salem and Jocelynn Weber of Pana.
Memorials in John's honor may be made to Pana Diamonds Club or the Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
