It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nellie Fleiss of Salem, Illinois, born in Long Beach, California, who passed away on November 1, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Chester Smith and Joan Smith (Eldred); her husband Fred Fleiss; and her brothers, Lamar Kyzar and Marvin Kyzar.

She is survived by : her children, Michael Fleiss (Ocieanna) of Maple Valley, WA, Poppy Tackett (Matthew) of Salem and Jonathan Fleiss of Salem; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Gabrielle, Christian and Abigail Fleiss; and her siblings, Martin "Mike" Smith of Salem, Patrick Smith of Costa and Peggysue Holmes of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sleep in Heavenly Peace and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home 310 North Broadway/ P.O. Box 97 Salem, Illinois 62881, (618) 548-1234, who is honored to be of service to Nellie's Family.

Dollaine Wooley wrote a sympathy message

“Nellie was the best friend I had. She and I both had a Captain's Office SS Titanic keyring. I miss her so much. I will pray for her family and rejoice that she is with Fred and at peace with no more pain. Good-bye Nellie, I loved working with you at the BBL and remember you and Fred celebrating an Hawaiian party at the MCSB annex building, former church. So sorry she is gone from this earth.
