He was predeceased by: his parents, Enrique Castañeda and Luz Castañeda; his siblings, John Anthony Castañeda (Esther), Julio Castañeda (Shirley), Porfidio Castañeda (Guadalupe), Manuela Gonzales (Joseph), Lucy Glaudin (Alexander) and Henry Castañeda (Irma); his siblings-in-law, Jack Serrano and Lois Serrano; and his parents-in-law, Petra Reyes and Jesus Casillas.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Charles Castañeda Jr. (late Debbie), Cristina Mazanec, Patricia Baltazar (George) and Carolyna Castañeda; his grandchildren, Evangelia Castañeda, Dylan Mazanec, Danica Mazanec, Erika Baltazar, Aaron Baltazar, Madison Baltazar and Nathan Castañeda; his sisters, Frances Angelo (late Robert) and Katherine Tellizyn (John); his brother-in-law Raymond Serrano (Carole); and his goddaughters, Stephanie Shields and Annmarie Serrano-Demoss. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and faithful canine companion.
