He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Gavin and Frances Gavin (Witt); his wife Joan Sherrill; his siblings, Lawrence Gavin and Doris Ann Duea; and his son-in-law John Adkinson.
He is survived by: his children, Sheryl Adkinson, Susan Csiszer, Kathleen Clark (Terry), Teresa Riebe, Steve Gavin (Cassie) and Patricia Lappe; and his sister Ellen Baumet. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Turner-Eighner Funeral Home (13160 US-34 W, Somonauk, IL 60552). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul the Apostle Church (340 W Arnold St, Sandwich, IL 60548). A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
