He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Downey and Beulah Mae Downey (Sheets); and his brothers, Fred and Billy Downey. He is survived by: his wife Jane Hays; his children, Jay (Hyon-A Downey), Jill Williams (Jennifer) of LaQuinta and Jennifer (Arthur Wirtz); his grandchildren, Rebecca, John Downey, Ashleigh, Michael Wirtz, Jake and Kate Williams; his former wife Jo Downey; his children, Rachel (Ryan Beaupre'), Laura (Nate French) and Michael Henneman Jr. of Champaign; and his grandchildren, Ryan Jr., Parker, Jane Beaupre', Marie and Nate French Jr..
