He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Dallas and Dorothy Poff Thompson; his former wife Dorothy Mae Albertson; his son Joe Thompson; his siblings, Michael, David, Paul, James Thompson, Peggy Lee Schnieder and Shelby Jean; and his stepson Bruce Carey.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Callahan; his son Michael E. Thompson (Laura) of Hoopeston; his siblings, Charles Thompson (Becky) of Shelbyville and Marlene Salyard of Phoenix, Arizona; his stepdaughter Lorraine Wernigk; his stepgrandsons, Harley and Sebastian; and his friend Moose Lodge. He is also survived by four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
