He was predeceased by : his parents, Arthur Lowell and Thelma Mildred Elder (Stirrett); his brother Carl Elder; his brother-in-law John F. Orton; his parents-in-law, Ernest C. and Carolyn K. Hardsaw; and his nephews, Terry Elder, Rusty Elder and Christopher Hardsaw.

He is survived by : his wife Connie J. Hardsaw; his brothers, Lowell Elvin Elder (Tish) of Great Bend, KS and Ronnie Elder of Bethany, IL; and his siblings-in-law, Dee Elder of Sullivan, IL, Denise Orton of Penitas, TX and Mark Hardsaw (Debbie) of Mode, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
