We are sad to announce that on October 9, 2022, at the age of 96, Essie M. Carter of Sherman, Illinois, born in Ellsinore, Missouri passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ira Bowman and Lucy Bowman (Fry); her husband Carlos A. Carter; her son Billy Ray Carter; and her son-in-law William Cooper.

She is survived by: her children, Shirley J. Cooper of Riverton, Ronald D. Carter (Deborah) of Springfield and Rick Carter (Trish) of Springfield; and her sisters, Glady Miler of Troy, MO and Reva Freeze (Orville) of Elsinore, MO. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
