He was predeceased by: his parents, George Stoops and Ollie O'Brien Stoops; his children, Darrell Stoops, Jeffrey Stoops, Keith Stoops and Terry Stoops; and his siblings, Earl Stoops, Floyd Stoops, Ivan Stoops, Leslie "Red" Stoops and Betty Cunningham.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Stoops of Shipman, IL; his son Billy Stoops of Shipman, IL; and his stepchildren, Tammy Ash of Brighton, IL and Toby Hughes of Shipman, IL. He is also survived by many grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kravanya Funeral Home (875 S Washington St, Bunker Hill, IL 62014). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Shipman Cemetery.
