He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. Rueter and Elsie Rueter (Ashley); his grandchildren, Trevor Michael and Ocean Savannah; and his brother Gene Higgs.
He is survived by: his children, Stacie (Rueter), Bowman (John), Angie Rueter-Verts (Bill), Andy Rueter (Sarah), Kaycie Metzelaars (Erich), Mark Rueter (Lindsay) and Nick Rueter (Brooke); and his siblings, Rick, Kevin Rueter, Karen Rueter and Brenda Bremmer. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
