He was predeceased by: his parents, Kasim Atlas and Mildred Atlas; and his siblings, Diane Wick and Kurt Atlas. He is survived by: his children, Geoffrey Scott Atlas, Jonathan David Atlas (Amanda Suzanne) and Jessica Ann Atlas (Daniel Palumbo); his grandchildren, Elise Anne Atlas, Jackson Jonathan Atlas, Griffin Atlas Palumbo and Mia Rose Palumbo; his sisters, Susan Leach and Alice Atlas; Patricia Locklin Atlas. He is also survived by extended family, friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to;Leukemia Research Foundation.

“David Scott Atlas was my first cousin. His mother and my mother were sisters. We spent many holidays, summer reunions and other family celebrations together at our grandmother's farm/home in Kankakee, IL. So many happy memories of spending time with him and his siblings. David loved his family, his friends, his grandkids and lived a very full, successful professional life. He gave me counsel on occassion and I was always impressed with his knowledge and how he handled himself.”
