With solemn reverence, we commemorate Elizabeth Wieland of Smithton, Illinois, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, whose life came to an end on July 5, 2025 at the age of 90, leaving behind cherished memories. She was predeceased by: her parents, Bernard (Marie) and Mick; her husband Dr. Charles G. Wieland; her grandson Jacob Thomas Wieland; her brother Richard Mick (Elizabeth); and her brother-in-law Eugene Muffler.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Wieland (Ronda) of Bluford, IL, Jean Marie Stuckey (Jeff) of Collinsville, IL and Gregory Thomas Wieland of Freeburg, IL; her grandchildren, Michael Wieland Jr., Sherri Szemansco (Jonathan), Westley Wieland (Sharon), Emily Wieland, Elizabeth Coyle (Jesse), Melissa Soriano (Mike), Gabe Stuckey, Sam Stuckey, Dalton Wieland (Brooke) and Macy Wieland (Eric Webster); her great grandchildren, Brianna, Heidi, Kyle Squillace, Julian, Alicia Soriano and Petra Szemansco; her stepgreat-grandchild Hunter; and her sister Marian Muffler. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (10 S Lincoln St, Smithton, IL 62285).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belleville Area Humane Society or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL.
