We are sad to announce that on August 20, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Rose Mertens of Smithton, Illinois, born in Walsh, Illinois. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Charles S. Mertens; her daughter Charlotte Kaffer; her parents, George Ederer and Anna Ederer; and her brother George Ederer.

She is survived by: her children, Julie Weber (Richard), Michelle Schlarman (Tom), Ronald Mertens and Stephen Mertens (Mary); her grandchildren, Amy, Dan, Amanda, Emily, Richard, Nick, Hannah and Joe; and her sister Frances Decker (Carl). She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL.
