It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jose M. Ortega of South Beloit, Illinois, who passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian Ortega and Librada Ortega (Milian); his wife Adelina Soto Ortega; and his siblings, D. Refugio Ortega, Refugio Ortega, Jesus Ortega and Salvador Ortega.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Ortega, Edmundo Ortega, Leticia Ortega, Maria D. Ortega, Jose Ortega, Adelina Ortega, Rafael Ortega, Juan Luis Ortega and Julio A. Ortega; and his brother Heraclio Ortega. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren; over 20 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.
