He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Garland and Genevieve "Jill" Garland (Brooks); and his son Tim. He is survived by: his sons, Tom Garland (Tasha) and Michael Boone; his grandchildren, Thomas, Kallie, Dominic and Jack; his siblings, James Podschweit, Robert Garland, Vickie Lewis (Paul), Tracy Langford, Geri Garland and Brenda Garland; the mother of his children Dawn Windsor; and his father-in-law Clyde Windsor. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
