Evonne Zelma Thornton Obituary
We are sad to announce that on December 11, 2025, at the age of 84, Evonne Zelma Thornton of Sparta, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Clayton and Pauline Catherine Hamilton (Knoll); and her husband Roy Robert "Bob" Thornton. She is survived by: her daughters, Tamara "Tammy" Craft (Daniel) of Sparta, IL, Debra "Debbie" Grapperhaus (Steve Hummert, Jr.) of Coulterville, IL and Victoria "Vicky" Potter (John Kirby) of Steeleville, IL; her sister Beverly O'Connor; her grandchildren, Jeff Zimmermann (April), Valerie Sinn (Chris), Billy Craft (Darian), Clarissa Lohse (Jim), Megan Grapperhaus, Cody Hummert (Haylee), Allisanne Penny (Tyler), Walker Lewis-Hummert, Nick Potter (Meghann) and Sara Potter (Tyler Clark); and her great grandchildren, Drew, Emma Zimmerman, Elliot, Roy, Max Sinn, Beau Daniel, Paul Thomas Craft, Molly, Sophie, James Lohse, Everett, Hudson Potter, Kinsely, Tate, Kam Penny, Tripp and Kyler Hummert. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Pyatt Funeral Home - Coulterville (204 E Locust St, Coulterville, IL 62237). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
