Peggy Petkas Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peggy Petkas of Sparta, Illinois, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John and Martha; and her brother-in-law James "Jim" Petkas. She is survived by: her husband John Petkas of Sparta, IL; her children, Kimberly Shimkus (Aric) of Phoenix, AZ and Scott Petkas of Eureka, MO; her brother Ray Lewis (Carol) of Cedar Hill, MO; and her sisters-in-law, Judy Corn (Steve) of Mattoon, IL and Debbie Petkas of West Frankfort, IL.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (611 W Broadway St, Sparta, IL 62286). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Saint Ann Altar Sodality or Our Friends of the Library.
