It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Caroline A. Porter of Springfield, Illinois, who passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Caroline may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Caroline touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harper Andrews and Alice Griffith Andrews; and her husband W. Dale Porter of Alexis. She is survived by: her former husband John Goltermann; her children, Jean Goltermann, Eva Goltermann Basinger and Neil Goltermann (Teresa) of Springfield; her brother James Andrews (Donna Avery) of Chicago; and her grandchildren, Wendi Schutte (Jason), James Goltermann (Bella Martin) of Springfield and Jillian Goltermann of Virginia. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory (1849 N Seminary St, Galesburg, IL 61401). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
