He was predeceased by: his parents, John Andrew Mertz and Esther Marie Mogle. He is survived by: his wife Dr. Georgia Davis; his stepdaughter Jessica Davis of Melbourne, Florida; and his sister Marilyn Mertz of Bloomington. He is also survived by cousins and friends.
