Though Colleen Kay may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Colleen Kay touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry E. Whelen and Hazel "Jackie" Whelen (Richardson); her brothers, Harry "Denny" Whelen and Timothy K. Whelen; and her great-niece Pipher Chenault.
She is survived by: her sisters, Madelyn Symons (Monte) of Palm Bay, FL, Phyllis Rogers (Bob) of Oklahoma City, OK, Jan Moore (James) of Morrison, IL and Judi Marshall (Kent) of Olney, IL. She is also survived by seven nieces and seven nephews, and many great- nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Staab Funeral Home - Springfield (1109 S 5th St, Springfield, IL 62703). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 14th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Sojourn Shelter.
