It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David N. Smith of Springfield, Illinois, who passed away on March 19, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Neeley Smith and Mary Alice Smith (Jacobs); his sisters, Marge Rice, Marion Berry and Beverly Lamsargis; and his grandson Zachary Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Anne Smith; his brother Jim Burnett (Diane) of Springfield; his children, Laura Antenan of Springfield, David, Michael Smith of Texas, Julia Southwood (Thomas) of Springfield, Mark Smith (Deanna Howard) of Springfield and Christine "Tina" Smith Rhone (Rick) of Springfield; his grandchildren, Kaley Grounds, Conner Ryan (Nicole), Megan Smith, Jaycie Rhone, Mason Southwood, Christian Smith (Erin Truax), Maria Southwood and Keegan Rhone; and his great grandchildren, Raelynn, Alaia, Oliver and Kai.
