We bid farewell to Gary C. Vitale of Springfield, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 12, 2025 at the age of 86. Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Gary leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vitale and Marie Vitale (Rini); his sister Judith Cabot; and his daughter Mary Ellen Clark. He is survived by: his daughters, Julie Eggold (John) of Springfield and Elizabeth Gantner (Paul) of Campton Hills, IL; and his brother Dale Vitale of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews and nineteen great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church (2645 Old Jacksonville Rd, Springfield, IL 62704). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Greenmount Cemetery.
