George A. Books Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of George A. Books (Springfield, Illinois), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 17, 2025 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Books, Sr. and Annetta "Babe" Books (Turley); his siblings, Ed (Carla), Wayne (Aquilla), Brenda (Jack) and Mark (Doreen); his wife Bonnie (Reilly); his sons, B. J. (Laura) and Brad Books (Betsy); and his grandchildren, Riley, Karigan, George, Gracie and Logan.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Firefighters Lake Club (940 W Lake Shore Dr, Springfield, IL 62712).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Mike Rowe Works Foundation and/or Folds of Honor in memory of George Books.
