He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl J. Hermes and Josephine Hermes (Bellm); and his siblings, Barbara Fank, Catherine Canfield and Patrick Hermes.

He is survived by: his children, Sherry Wascher (Frank) of Joliet, Cathy Voelkers (Terry) of Bettendorf, IA and Michael Hermes of New Berlin; his grandchildren, Justin Hermes, Sophia Hermes, Paytin Hermes, Blake Hermes, Lauren Clotfelter and Evan Clotfelter; his siblings, Mary Jo Morlee of Springfield, Anna Marie Rine of Springfield and Jacob Hermes (Margie) of Springfield; and his sister-in-law Romie Hermes of Springfield. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
