With sadness, we share the passing of Gerard Broeker of Springfield, Illinois. Gerard, born on July 27, 1970, passed away on September 27, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Maureen Imming Broeker; his sister Maggie Doedtman; and his brother-in-law Lee Griffin. He is survived by: his father Robert Broeker; his siblings, Roberta Meyer (Dennis), Theresa Griffin, Jon Broeker (Lisa), Monica Feldhake (Doug), Jeannine Lehman (Rob), Anne Miller (Kenny), Kristen Rodgers, Greg Broeker (Misty), Ted Broeker (Heather) and Madonna Broeker; and his brother-in-law Vic Doedtman. He is also survived by 29 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Effingham Event Center (1501 W Fayette Ave, Effingham, IL 62401). A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (101 E Virginia Ave, Effingham, IL 62401).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Statewide Independent Living Council of Illinois (SILC), 828 S. 2nd.
