He was predeceased by: his parents, Roswell Hopkins and Lillian Hopkins (Curry); his siblings, Robert Eugene, Billy James Hopkins, Virginia Elizabeth Ulrich, Mary Darline Pierson, Marjorie Ann Fletcher and Carol Sue Echelberry; his children, Gayleen Rae Tyndall and Glenn Joseph Hopkins; and his daughter-in-law Cindy.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Gene Hopkins (Melissa) of Athens and Glenda Kay Long (Eugene) of San Antonio, TX; his son-in-law Melvin Tyndall; his grandchildren, Keith Tyndall and Heather Tyndall of San Antonio, TX; and his pet Maisie Grace. He is also survived by six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

“I have known Glenn for over 50 years. I do not think I have met anyone who has ever gone out of his way to assist or otherwise help people succeed the way that he did. We worked on many projects for quite a few radio station around central and Southern Illinois. He was a tremendously patient individual who always did and wanted others to do the best they could. He was a great friend and I will miss him. He will always be somewhere in my thoughts.. Rest in peace my friend. Dave Wysocki”
