He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank I. Smith and Emelia Marker Smith; and his wife Joan Reilly Smith of Joseph's Church. He is survived by: his children, Irvin F. "Chip" Smith, April Elaine Smith and Sharmin Smith Doering; his grandchildren, Charles I. Smith and Ava M. Smith; his son-in-law Gary Doering; his brother John Mark Smith; his siblings' children, Kathryn Spain (Tony), Crystal Kalinowski and Mark Smith (Kathy); his in-laws, Walter R. and Edith Johnson Reilly; his sister Clara L. Bennett; and his sisters-in-law, Florence Nizzio Smith and Mary Alice Smith.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Agnes Church (245 N Amos Ave, Springfield, IL 62702).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield YMCA Strong Kids Fund.
