He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Gerding and Martha Gerding (Klein); his former wife Dorothy Wright; his siblings, Henry, Charles Gerding, Clara Ann Trello and Eleanor Gerding; his grandson William Cole; Allene Brust.
He is survived by: his close friend Vickie Matula; his children, Gina Kreuzmacht (Dani) of Springfield and John C. Gerding (Lisa Bea) of Springfield; his grandchildren, Connor Sullivan (Ashley), Eryn Sullivan, Rylie Samat (Blake), John Gerding (Paige Bradford), Charlie and Henry Gerding; and his sister Martha Mayfield of Springfield.
