He is survived by: his wife Diana Sidener; his children, Amy of Springfield, Ashley of Springfield, Melissa Rodgers of Springfield, Joe Rodgers, Scott Rodgers of Springfield, John M. Rodgers II (Diane) of St. Charles, MO, Deanna Logan of Springfield, Ikeem Mattison of Springfield and Shameka Allen of Springfield; his grandchildren, Keaira, Julius Strowder, Joshua Durham, Kaylin, Butch and Bishop Rodgers; his sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Bellin (Anthony), Mary Helen Hoffman (Richard) of Urbana and Sue-Ann Long (Robert) of Springfield; and his brother-in-law Alvin Murphy of Springfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
