It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lena Scherba of Springfield, Illinois, who passed away on March 25, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Aleksandr Petrovich and Vera Lvovna Shemyekin; and her husband Donald A. Scherba. She is survived by: her daughters, Alexandra "Alexis" Scherba (Kristian Sharp) of Springfield and Yvonna Krugliak of Tel Aviv, Israel; her grandchildren, Owyn, William, Eleanor Sharp, Yahli, Ben and Zakai; her sister Angelika Filimonova; and her nephew Vladimir Filimonov (Ilona) of Liepaja, Latvia.. She is also survived by one great niece and two great nephews.
