He was predeceased by: his parents, Simeon Royal and Lulu Royal (Towne); his daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Grider; and his siblings, Duane, Joe Royal and Lenore Flemming.

He is survived by: his wife Eileen Christman of Springfield; his sons, Chris Royal (Sue) of Buckeye, AZ, John Royal (Terry) of Gravois Mills, MO and Greg Royal of Springfield; his grandchildren, Sarah Sosinski, Bryn Royal, Mike Royal (Amy) and Brian Royal (Kait); and his great grandchildren, Josh, Hannah, Derrick, Abigail, Charles and Christopher.

Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield, IL 62704.
