He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Louis and Mildred Elizabeth South (Wood); his wife Patricia S. Beardsley; his grandson Marcus Wiese; and his siblings, Ronald South and Maxine Christie.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey South (Clara) of Chatham and Becky Wiese (Mike) of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Ryan South (Kylie), Paul South, Nicholas Wiese (Kristin Edwards), Curtis Wiese (Sydney Chitjian), Lucas Wiese and Alexis Wiese (Ethan Allen); his great grandchildren, Sloan South, Celia South and Kellen Wiese; his sister Norma Altman of Taylorville; and his sisters-in-law, Gloria South of Indianapolis, Janet Johnson (David) of Pekin and Sharyn Beardsley of St. Louis. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois or the Wounded Warrior Project.
