We bid farewell to Octavia M. Diaz of Springfield, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on September 22, 2025 at the age of 75. Octavia touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Edward and Genevieve Murphy (Cunningham); and her husband Henry James Diaz. She is survived by: her daughter Kathryn "Kate" Diaz (Christian Ingram); her siblings, Kathryn Burke, John Edward, Jr., James Joseph (Faten), Michael Martin, Elizabeth "Tibby" Parkin (Tom) and Patrick Brendan Murphy (Julie); her pets, Frankie, Silva and Booboo; and her cousins, Frank and Barbie Stelte. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home- Springfield (900 S 6th St, Springfield, IL 62703). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (524 E Lawrence Ave, Springfield, IL 62703).
Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League or St. Jude Children's Research, Hospital.
