With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Perry Sykes of Springfield, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 25, 2025 at the age of 61. He was predeceased by: his parents, Minnie Jones-Sykes and Leroy Sykes. He is survived by: his wife Carrie Sykes of Springfield; his children, Perry Sykes Jr. of Jacksonville, Illinois, Jah'lone Perry Sykes of Springfield, Illinois, Erica Curtis (Lance Curtis) of Columbia, Missouri, Nina Sykes of Springfield, Illinois, Denise Jackson (Terry Jackson) of Springfield, Illinois and Kizzy Jackson (Chevus Jackson) of Jacksonville, Illinois.; and his siblings, Dennis Ray Sykes (Jaqueline Lane) of Springfield, Illinois, Roy Jones Jr. (Leantha Jones) of Farmington, Missouri, Calvin Gilmore (Shatwanna Gilmore) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri., Emma Wilson of Jacksonville, Illinois, Cora Jones of Carbondale, Illinois, Bernice Jones of Mexico, Missouri, Joyce Wilson of Memphis, Tennessee and Beverly Taper-Alston (Tyreese Alston) of Texas. He is also survived by 27 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Ruby Funeral Services (1520 E Washington St, Springfield, IL 62703). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
