He was predeceased by: his parents, David C. Adkins and Norma Adkins (Hart); and his sister-in-law Karen Adkins. He is survived by: his sons, Philip Adkins (Catherine) of Fountain, CO, Eric Adkins (Dara) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Scott Adkins of Springfield and Keith Adkins of Springfield; his grandchildren, Natalie, Coy, Paul, Alexandria and Ian Adkins; and his siblings, Debra Freburg (Karl) of Carmel, IN, Diane Wilson (Tom) of Chatham, David Adkins (Ruth) of Chatham, Gary Adkins of Springfield, John Adkins of Springfield and James "Jim" Adkins (Shirley) of Chicago.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Staab Funeral Home - Springfield (1109 S 5th St, Springfield, IL 62703). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
