He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Bowen, Sr. and Helen Valree Vaughn Bowen; and his brothers, Bernard Bowen and Lionel Kincaid. He is survived by: his wife Cleatia B. Rafe-Bowen; his children, Gerald Bowen of Washington, DC and Chantel Y. Bowen of Springfield, IL; his grandson Alexander Blaze Taylor; and his siblings, Rosetta Bowen-Thompson, Yvonne Jenay Bowen, Darla Kincaid of Springfield, IL, Leonard Bowen (Lydia) of Carbondale, IL. and Denver Powers (Mary) of Colp, IL.
