He was predeceased by: his parents, Cletus Dawe and Mary Dorothy Dawe (McHenry); his siblings-in-law, Lynette Duffy, Wayne Shepherd and David Gruendler; and his pets, Flash, Ike, Happy and Tippy.

He is survived by: his wife Marlene Shepherd; his children, Lora Furlong (Rick) of Litchfield and Bryan Dawe (Erin) of Palatine; his grandchildren, Valerie Furlong Russell (Laith) of Highland, Sadie Dawe and Avery Dawe of Palatine; his sisters, Joanne Gruendler of Freeport, IL and Mary Ellen Cobine (Bill) of Elizabeth, IL; his siblings-in-law, Michael Duffy of Edgerton, WI and Maureen Shepherd of Albuquerque, NM; and his nieces and nephews, Sheri Lenthe, Michael Duffy, Kim Sackett, Bobby Shepherd, Rob Cobine, Rick Cobine, Barb Klever and Amy Fogel.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wilson Park Funeral Home (200 E Main St, Rochester, IL 62563). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
