He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard DeLong and Irene DeLong; his wife Shirley DeLong; his foster parents, Elwin DeLong and Laura DeLong; his stepmother Otra DeLong; and his half-brother Joe DeLong.
He is survived by: his daughter Julie Hermes (Art) of New Berlin, IL; his grandchildren, Alex Hermes (Rachel Thomas) of Springfield, IL and Madison Hermes of New Berlin, IL; his stepgranddaughter Rachel Hermes (Efrain Costello) of Kansas City, MO; his siblings, Dr. Paul DeLong (Myra) of Dubuque, IA and Laquita Perry of Stoneham, MA; and his half-siblings, Patricia Oxley of Jacksonville, IL, John DeLong (Deb) of Jacksonville, IL and David DeLong. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
