It is with sadness that the passing of Steven E. Wermcrantz of Springfield, Illinois is shared. Steven, born on January 5, 1944 in Rockford, Illinois, passed away on July 7, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen Wermcrantz (Wischmeyer); and his parents, Eric Wermcrantz and Marjorie Wermcrantz (Sater). He is survived by: his friend Steve Rees; his daughters, Elizabeth Wermcrantz (Liz) and Susan Wermcrantz; his grandchildren, Mimi Wermcrantz, Lyla Davis, Macy Davis and Alex Davis; his brother Dennis Wermcrantz (Sally); and his nephews, Kevin Wermcrantz and Brian Wermcrantz.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, November 13th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Staab Funeral Home (1109 S 5th St, Springfield, IL 62703). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church (2645 Old Jacksonville Rd, Springfield, IL 62704).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel for Towers Foundation or the Central Illinois Foodbank, the two places Steve and Ellen donated to regularly.
