He was predeceased by: his parents, Laude Smith and Gertrude Smith (Miller); his siblings, Roger, Junior, Johnny Smith, Linda (Susie) and Tootsie; and his granddaughter Caitlin Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Jeff Smith (Tammy) of Petersburg and Lori Smith of Springfield; and his grandchildren, Zach Smith (Kaylee) of Madison, IN, Trista Johnson (Todd) of Springfield, Erika Love (Chris T.) of Havana and Kasey Buckley (Chris H.) of Auburn. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren with two on the way; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
