It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Violet M. Dickson of Springfield, Illinois, born in Cosby, Missouri, who passed away on March 3, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Hegeman and Anna "Nelle" Hegeman (Sommer); her husband Charles Ray Dickson; her daughter Charlene "Happy" Baird; and her siblings, Donald Hegeman and Virginia Hegeman.

She is survived by: her children, Diane Stocker (Carl) of Greenville, SC and Charles "Chuck" Dickson Jr. (Wendy) of Highland Park; and her grandchildren, Andrew Stocker, Megan Headley, Sarah Swanson (Jeff), Dane Baird, Caitlin Dickson and Jordyn Slade (Parker). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2100 Bates Ave., Springfield, IL 62704, or Concordia Scholarship Fund, 4101 W. Iles Ave., Springfield, IL 62711.

She was the The Quintessential Lady - genteel, funny, wise, caring, thoughtful, and beautiful inside and out. She will be remembered by many as a smiling face that greeted them for 11 years as they entered Art Spectacular at the Carillon. She was a dear friend and special lady, and I miss her.
