He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter E. Gabehart and Virginia Gabehart Sr. (Looker); his former wife Carol A Ernst; and his spouse Methodist Church of Kansas. He is survived by: his children, Mark Gabehart (Yolanda) of Round Rock, TX, Scott Gabehart (Miatra) of Phoenix, AZ and Polly Schrader (Michael) of Rochester, IL.; his grandchildren, Gabriella Gabehart, Samantha Schrader (Zack), Shahab Mehraban, Cassandra Turnage (Matthew), Megan Matzat (Adam) and Dylan Schrader (Kathy); and his great grandchildren, MacKenzie and Maisie Matzat.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Ridge Cemetery (1441 Monument Ave, Springfield, IL 62702).
