William J. Merrick Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William J. Merrick of Springfield, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 20, 2025 at the age of 78. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of William J. Merrick to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley A. Merrick and Mary Merrick (Pritchard); his son William Joseph Merrick Jr.; and his brothers, Stanley A. Jr., Jerry and Rex Merrick.
He is survived by: his children, Nannette Merrick of Springfield, Tammy Merrick (Arthur) of Springfield, Larissa Tweed (Terrence) of Bloomington, David Merrick (Kaitlyn) of Atlanta, IL, Steven Merrick of Springfield and Ashley Olmstead (John) of Springfield; his grandchildren, Kabrea Thomas, Brooklyn Thomas, Alaycia Hickman, Akaylee Thomas and Joseph Tweed; his great grandchild Joshua Merrick; his sister Sharon Vinson (Jack) of Springfield; and his sisters-in-law, Suzanna Merrick and Anna Merrick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (2477 W Washington St, Springfield, IL 62702). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
