With sadness, we share the passing of Alvin Stein Jr. of Staunton, Illinois. Alvin, born on September 21, 1928, passed away on September 7, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin John Stein, Sr. and Bertha Stein (Tosta); his wife Violet Mae Spudich; his grandson Alphonzo Stein; his brother Fred Stein; and his siblings-in-law, George Spudich, Roy Spudich, Betty Stein, Lynette Spudich, Shirley Spudich and Beulah Spudich.
He is survived by: his children, Alan Stein (Liliann) of Downers Grove, IL, Nolie Mayberry (Rocky) of Hamel, IL and Wendy Coyle (Mike) of Peoria, IL; his grandchildren, Eric Stein (Katie) of Downers Grove, IL, Benjamin Stein of Pasadena, CA, Jennifer Oberkfell (Tyler) of Troy, IL, Jason Mayberry of New Douglas, IL, Kathleen Francoeur (Kevin) of Edwardsville, IL, Sean Coyle (Jami) of Gurnee, IL, Jesse Coyle (Caitlyn) of Pekin, IL, Carly Bohmer (Brandon) of Edwardsville, IL and Casey Coyle (Helene) of Binghamton, NY; his brother Marvin Stein (Kathy) of Staunton, IL; and his brother-in-law John Spudich (DeeMana) of Granite City, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Williamson Funeral Home (108 W Henry St, Staunton, IL 62088). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Michael Catholic Church (415 E Main St, Staunton, IL 62088).
