He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Poeling and Nettie Poeling (Erb); his brothers, Eugene Poeling and Bernard Poeling; his siblings-in-law, Harold Sutton and Mary Lynn Poeling; his niece Lisa Rosenthal; and his son-in-law Brian Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Myra Poeling of Staunton, IL; his daughters, Pam Trausch (Mike) of Palatine, IL and Nancy Poeling of Schaumburg, IL; his granddaughters, Heather Butler (Nick) of Palatine, IL and Megan Trausch of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and his sister Mary Lou Sutton of Alton, IL. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (311 Elm St, Staunton, IL 62088). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to either Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, IL, the Staunton Area Ambulance Service, or to Community Hospital of Staunton, IL.
