He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Ernsting and Frieda Ernsting (Meyerhoff); his wife Ruby Hornbostel; and his brothers, Howard and John.
He is survived by: his children, Tom Ernsting (Tammy) of Campbell Hill, IL, Dale Ernsting (Tanya Newby) of Steeleville, IL and Nancy Hamilton (Dike) of Steeleville, IL; and his grandchildren, Crystal King (Brian Gibbs), Doug Ernsting (Lisa), Rusty Hamilton (Taylor), Keith Hamilton (Emilee), Dakota Eggemeyer (Zack) and Nick Ernsting. He is also survived by his 7 great grandchildren and one on the way, and his great great grandson.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church (303 N Mulberry St, Steeleville, IL 62288). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
